Seward Alaska

I am on the U.S. National Women’s Skimo Team and compete Internationally in this incredible sport.

I am originally from Seward, Alaska but have lived in Breckenridge, CO since 1996.

Introduction to Skimo

In 2017 I was introduced to a lighter more efficient method of skiing up mountains, and in 2018 I started Skimo racing.

I found that I was able to combine my experience in downhill racing and long-distance running in this unique sport.

Volunteering + Mentoring

My passion for sports extends beyond competing. I am proud to play a role in the development of women in big mountain pursuits and specifically now in the growing sport of Skimo in America.

In 2014 I had the opportunity to work alongside SHE Jumps, helping promote their Alpine Finishing School program as well as the all ladies ski film Pretty Faces. Those programs and efforts put the bug in my ear and helped launch me towards the path I am on now.

My Background

D1 Athlete at SMU

I spent 8 years alpine ski racing in Summit County before transitioning to running my senior year in high school. I stopped skiing and for the next 5 years received a full ride Athletic D1 scholarship at Southern Methodist University. Although I favored running the mile, it wasn’t until about a decade later when I discovered running is so much more than fast splits and going in circles.

Commercial Salmon Fishing in Alaska

how i keep my arms strong on the boat….Salmon Curls
Cooking and Hosting are my favorite things to do in between training. Here I am preparing for a tasting event of blackcod at a gym in Grand Junction CO

Following college, I stopped racing entirely and joined the family business, commercial salmon fishing in Alaska. I took a 9 year break from competing, yet still enjoyed backcountry skiing in the winters while fishing in the summers.

I started running skiff (the small boat) for my dad at 14 years old

I started my own seafood business in 2015 where I distribute Alaskan seafood nation wide. I love educating people on the importance of healthy fish diet and have appreciated staying closely connected to my roots in the Alaska Seafood Industry.

This is just one other way I love bringing people together and building community around good healthy and sustainable food.
